Brian Deal, DC

Dr. Brian Deal grew up on a farm in western Minnesota. After graduating from St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN with a degree in Natural Science, he decided to continue his education at Northwestern Health Sciences College of Chiropractic to pursue a career that allowed him to share his passion for helping people.

After earning his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1987, he went on to open his own chiropractic clinic with his wife. Together they served their community for over 30 years. Dr. Brian was known to be the “baby whisperer” of his town and took part in developing research on the initial pediatric neurological sEMG assessments that we use today at Lake Life Chiropractic.

Dr. Brian has a very deep love for the chiropractic profession and is well versed in numerous adjusting techniques. He is proficient in MC2 technique, Torque Release Technique, Blair Upper Cervical, and Diversified and has learned and trained with many of the “legends” in chiropractic (and we’re all a bit jealous)! Difficult and chronic cases are Dr. Brian’s specialty.

After only a couple years of being retired Dr. Brian knew he had to return to practice. As fate would have it, Lake Life Chiropractic was waiting for him to join! Outside of practice he can be found at his lake house, gardening with his wife, enjoying time with his family, or playing with his grandboys.

Meet the Care Advocates

Our Care Advocates have a thoughtfully chosen title: they are your friend, your shoulder to lean on, your listening ear, your advocate. While they all focus on patient care, they also divide responsibilities of checking insurance claims, processing x-rays, reviewing your health history, and more! Each team member is passionate about health, healing, and providing hope to the community. While they come with different backgrounds, they all love kids, families, health, and having fun.

  • Co-Founder, Operations

Melissa Brettingen is a former elementary school teacher from Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. After meeting her husband, Dr. Pete Brettingen, she moved to Marietta, Georgia while he completed his Doctorate program. There, she was able to help manage a large chiropractic clinic attached to the Atlanta Birth Center, where she was able to receive some of the most cutting edge training as well as the opportunity to work with many pregnant women, newborns and children. Melissa received her DONA doula training through her employment and assisted her first birth at the Atlanta Birth Center on January 17, 2017.

Melissa is now a mom to two chiro kids: Brooks + Jane.  She is a Board of Directors member for Baby Mama Birth Center in Haiti. When Melissa is not in the office, you can find her spending time outside with her kids, running, drinking coffee, practicing yoga and reading books.

  • Brittany was born in Colorado and lived there for 11 years before moving to Minnesota. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration degree. She has always been interested in health and wellness and her passion for holistic health grew when she started working in a chiropractic office. This is where she had her first experience with the benefits of chiropractic care when she was dealing with chronic headaches, hormone imbalances, and poor gut health.

After having her daughter in December of 2018, Brittany decided to be a full-time stay-at-home mom. She has been a stay-at-home mom with her two kids for the past six years, while also being a co-founder of an integrative health business. Focusing on a healthy lifestyle for herself and supporting her family and others in creating healthy habits to improve overall health is a passion and way of life for Brittany.

When not in the office, Brittany is most likely outdoors. She loves to take yearly trips with her mom to Colorado to go hiking, enjoys spending the weekends at the cabin, attending concerts, and finding new trails with her family to explore and create wildflower bouquets.

  • Katie grew up in northern IL and earned her associates degree in Arts Based on Psychology. She worked as a preschool teacher for a few years while going to college in the evenings. In 2008, Katie got married to her high school sweetheart as soon as they graduated college and moved up to Minnesota. She continued working as a preschool teacher until having her first daughter in 2010, with 3 more following quickly.

Katie received regular chiropractic care through each pregnancy and dove into the world of healthy alternatives after her oldest had adverse reactions to medications and food. She knew chiropractic care was essential but had yet to find a clinic that fit her individual needs. In 2018, she started as a patient at Lake Life Chiropractic and her health had finally started to change!

Katie is in her 9th year of homeschooling her 4 girls and spends most of her time learning with them. She manages her kiddos’ business, Glitter and Oak, by helping with woodworking, making organic candles and painting home decor! She loves reading a good book, drinking a good cup of chai tea, and spending time with the family hiking, biking, traveling, or enjoying the outdoors. Nature is their playground!

  • Sarah Adams is a former preschool teacher and site director. Her passion for serving others inspired her to search for another avenue where she could continue to make a difference in people's lives. This is when she found Lake Life and embraced the mission of serving others through neurologically-based chiropractic care after joining the team in August of 2018.

Sarah had been to chiropractors in the past, but only ever for immediate pain relief, and never consistently. It wasn't until Lake Life that she learned about the body's incredible ability to heal from above-down, inside-out and finally find freedom from chronic headaches.

When she is not in the office, you can find Sarah running, drinking coffee, at her favorite yoga studio, reading a book at the lake, or exploring local vineyards.

  • Elmarie was born in South Africa where she lived for 42 years of her life. She moved to Paris in 2016, and after allot of bonjours & baugettes she relocated to the United States in 2019.

She started her career in the corporate world where she studied and worked in Banking for 11 years. Between her corporate career and departing for Europe, she started a Kids party planning company with her sister and studied Image Consulting & Styling.

Only after moving to the USA did she discover the importance of Chiropractic care and became a practise member at Lake Life Chiro herself. The calm atmosphere and friendly people was a big draw when the opportunity arrived to be part of the team.

Outside working hours Elmarie loves hiking, reading a good book and spending time with friends. One of her favourite things to do over the weekend is discovering new places to enjoy brunch & mimosas! She also has interests in interior decorating and fashion.
